What is the difference between Venus water pump pliers No. 45 and No. 69?

The No. 45 is a standard drop-forged water pump plier with tongue-and-groove adjustment, reliable and affordable for general plumbing. The No. 69 (Box Joint) uses Chrome Vanadium steel with a slip-free box joint design and red-powder coated finish, giving smoother jaw adjustment and more secure grip under load. The No. 69 is better for professional plumbers. The No. 45 is great for general maintenance.

Are Venus pliers suitable for cutting hardened wire?

Venus CrV pliers (VCPP, No. 174) are built to cut soft to medium-hard wire (copper, aluminium, and mild steel up to about 2mm diameter). For hardened wire (spring wire, piano wire), use dedicated wire cutters or bolt cutters. Trying to cut hardened wire with combination pliers damages the cutting edges regardless of brand.
